Here’s a look at the Houseparty app games: Chips and Guac to Heads Up, Quick Draw, Trivia and more.

The Houseparty app ‘ one-ups’ other video calling apps by providing its users with the chance to play fun games while chatting.

In an attempt to recreate a real-life houseparty, the games provide added interactivity that Zoom and Skype don’t.

The ‘face-to-face’ social network rose in popularity due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Social distancing measures meant that people could no longer socialise. But thankfully, with the help of technology, many could still stay connected.

Houseparty app games: Chips and Guac

While most of the Houseparty games are pretty much self-explanatory, some people have wondered what exactly Chips and Guac is.

It’s a word-association game which can get funny very quickly. Similar to Cards Against Humanity, to play, one Houseparty guest puts down a ‘descriptor’ card such as ‘crazily’. Then, the other players have to choose and place down cards they think match the descriptor e.g. ‘sliding into DM’s’.

You’ll need two or more friends to partake in a game of Chips and Guac.

Houseparty app: How many guests?

The Houseparty app enables groups of up to eight people the ability to chat together.

While video conferencing apps such as Zoom can facilitate meetings for up to 100 people, Houseparty provides a more intimate gathering. Skype users can chat with up to 50 people participating, while WhatsApp video call allows 4-8 and Facetime allows 32 people to video chat. However, Group Facetime chats are not available in all countries.

Facebook Messenger rooms facilitate video calls for up to 50 people, plus Facebook Messenger also has a gaming feature.
